Our partner: is one of the UK’s most exciting independent publishers, which specialises in creating wonderfully crafted illustrated, non-fiction books across a wide range of subject areas. 

Responsibilities: you will deliver the pop-culture and wider entertainment list, with subjects spanning: music, film, and graphic novels. Create and oversee complex projects; including collaborating with and briefing authors, illustrators, designers, and all freelancers. 

  • Commissioning: Process titles from commission to publication, to schedule and within budget. Identify potential book projects that align with the goals and target audience of the company.
  • Project management: Manage a list for the adult colour-illustrated market in the areas of pop culture, music, film, graphic novels and wider entertainment. Create and manage both the frontlist and backlist programme. 
  • Commercial strategy: Recognise industry trends, market demands, customer feedback and competitor activities to stay informed and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Author management: Collaborate closely with, and brief, authors, illustrators, designers and all freelancers. Negotiate acquisitions and contracts. 

Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: The successful candidate will have excellent sense delivering visual impact, a strong commercial focus, and extensive knowledge of illustrated co-edition publishing. 

  • Robust, hands-on experience working in Editorial in pop culture, music, film and wider entertainment genres.  
  • A strong track record of the ability to conceive and deliver projects end to end.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a fast moving entrepreneurial environment. 
  • Fluency with MS Office and proficient using InDesign.
  • Ability to be strategic as well as hands on in project delivery

What’s on offer:

Salary: c.£40-45K DOE

Working pattern: 3 to 4 days a week in-office, with office located in central London.
