If you are a skilled editorial project manager with experience working on high quality cookery books, this Managing Editor opportunity is not one to miss.  A prestigious publisher of illustrated non-fiction is looking for a Managing Editor to oversee their high quality food and drink list.

In this role, which has become vacant due to an internal promotion,  you will be responsible for managing a team of freelance editors.  You will be careful and proactive in the management of schedules and editorial pipelines to ensure timely delivery of beautiful books.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Editorial duties: overseeing and coordinating editorial assignments and workloads, keeping on-track with the commissioning timelines and budgets. Hands-on editorial tasks including: imprint page checks and converting books into new formats, editions, and bindings. 
  • Project coordination: leading exciting new projects and overseeing reprints. Leading and managing the freelance editorial team, ensuring high standards across all new titles. 

The successful candidate will be an adaptable problem-solver with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and freelancers at all levels of seniority.  

What’s on offer:

  • Salary: c. £35k DOE
  • Hybrid with Tuesday to Thursday in the London office
  • The hiring manager believes this is a 4-5 day per week role
