Our partner: A leading illustrated global trade publisher is looking for a Senior Editor with excellent author and brand care to join their fiction licensing team, in a newly created role, leading the creation of a new licenced fiction list for children.

Responsibilities: Oversee multiple illustrated and non-illustrated children’s fiction projects across different brands, liaise with contributors, and keep up-to-date with industry trends when identifying opportunities for growth.

• Commission Licensed Titles: Nurture relationships with brand partners and high profile authors; commission print and digital products for global markets, ensuring they follow licensor guidelines; and negotiate with contributors. 
• Editorial Supervision: Work alongside the Managing Editor to grow the fiction list; control budgets and schedules; supervise the copyediting, fact-checking, and high quality layouts.
• Team Supervision: Motivate and offer guidance to Junior Editors; regularly update the Managing Editor; delegate tasks where appropriate and oversee their quality; when required, deputise for Managing Editor.

Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: The right candidate is someone with passion for children’s toy and entertainment brands, confident when pitching new concepts and ideas, and previous experience in children’s fiction. We’re specifically looking for…

• Proven experience in managing children’s fiction titles (mono or colour).
• Confidence when collaborating with brand partners and high profile authors.
• Passion for children’s entertainment brands. 
• A commercial and creative mind to develop this new list.
• Versatility in age range, (middle-grade being of particular interest).

The opportunity: In this newly created role, a passionate and motivated candidate will have the opportunity to make their mark and deliver a new fiction licensed list. This role would be perfect for an experienced Editor looking to progress or Senior Editor looking to take charge of fresh new content and work with globally loved brands.
